The worry.
The mental load.
The love that makes you want to fix everything — and the frustration when you can't.
I'm Tracey Montgomery, I specialise in helping mums of neurodivergent teens and young adults prepare for one of the biggest transitions of family life — the move towards independence.
I don't just understand this work professionally. I live it personally. I'm a mum of a neurodivergent young person myself, and I know exactly what this season of life feels like from the inside.
THE TURNING POINT:
For a long time I searched for support that understood both sides of this — the young person and the mum. The practical stuff and the emotional weight.
I couldn't find it. So I created it.
What I've built isn't just coaching. It's a community, a framework, and a safe space for mums who are carrying a lot — and deserve somewhere to put it down for a moment.
HOW I WORK:
I believe your neurodivergent young person has everything they need to live a meaningful, independent life. They just need the right structure, the right support, and a plan built around their brain — not a one-size-fits-all checklist.
And you, as their mum, deserve to feel calm and confident — not just relieved that today was okay.
That's what we build together inside Adulting With The Spectrum.
WHO AM I: I am an older single mom. Before becoming a teacher I worked within the Equine Industry, I have a BSc (Hons) degree in Equine Science. I also have a PGCE in Secondary Science and a PGDE in Inclusive Education. But, wow:
Going it alone was not part of my game plan.
But it happens.
Being left homeless and in debt definitely didn’t factor in my life plan.
WHY I DO IT
Being an older parent comes with its own unwritten rulebook. Being an older single parent who has had to start over adds a whole new chapter.
When I found myself homeless and in debt, I had a choice. I could let what had happened to me define me — or I could use it to change the direction of where we were headed.
I chose to use it.
But there was more at stake than just rebuilding my own life. My daughter has several life-threatening medical conditions, and like me, she is neurodivergent. From the moment I steadied myself, my focus became making sure that she would grow into an independent, capable and truly thriving young adult — whatever that path looked like for her.
That experience — the hard reset, the starting over, the fierce determination to create something better — is exactly why I do this work.
I know what it is to face an uncertain future and choose hope anyway. And I want to help you do the same.
