If you’ve ever felt like everything – especially your finances – has been flipped on its head during this transition, you’re not alone. The reality is, menopause is about so much more than hot flushes and night sweats. The hormonal chaos can quietly shake the foundations of your working life, your income, and your future financial security.
It’s time to talk about what no one else is really saying – menopause can wreck your finances. And no, it’s not your fault.
While the physical symptoms of menopause get a lot of airtime, it’s the emotional and cognitive side-effects that can do the most damage to your earning potential. Brain fog, memory lapses, lack of confidence, low self-esteem – all of these can mess with your ability to function at work or go after new opportunities.
And let’s be honest – if you’re constantly forgetting things, second-guessing yourself, and feeling like a shell of your former self, you’re not going to leap into that promotion or ask for that raise, are you?
So, instead, you step back. You scale down. You say no to things you’d once have jumped at – not because you can’t do them, but because you’re too exhausted to fight for your seat at the table.
Here’s how it creeps in:
You say no to higher-paying roles because your energy is tanked and your confidence has disappeared.
You spend more on “quick fixes” – vitamins, supplements, gym memberships, all in the hope of feeling better fast.
You ignore your financial situation, telling yourself things will pick up again when you “get through this phase”.
It’s not laziness. It’s not a lack of motivation. It’s the hormonal shit show dragging your emotions, energy and logic out the door while it packs up and leaves. And when that happens, your finances take a hit.
When you're running on empty, showing up in a world designed for people who aren’t going through a hormone-fuelled identity crisis is exhausting. You start comparing yourself to your younger colleagues who have energy to burn – and you feel ashamed for not keeping up.
But here’s the truth: this is happening to millions of women – but hardly anyone is talking about it.
This isn’t about pushing harder or just “trying a bit more”. That whole “just push through” mindset is rooted in a masculine way of working. For those of us going through menopause, it doesn’t work. In fact, it can make things worse.
Yes, you're capable. Yes, you're experienced. But the way forward might need to look different now.
This is a chapter of transformation, not decline. Your energy may be lower. Your tolerance for crap may be non-existent. But your wisdom? Your skills? Your value? They haven’t gone anywhere.
So let’s shift the narrative.
It's Time to Reconnect, Reset and Rebuild
You don’t have to start from scratch – you’ve already got years of experience behind you. It’s about doing things differently now. Slower, maybe. With more intention. But still powerful.
💡 Start by reconnecting with what matters to you.
💡 Build your confidence by acknowledging the skills you’ve gained, not the energy you’ve lost.
💡 Know that you can still achieve – you just get to do it in a way that honours who you are now.
And yes, that includes financial recovery too.
Whether that looks like:
Starting something new that works around your energy levels,
Creating multiple income streams,
Or finding opportunities that fit you, rather than the other way around...
There is another way.
This isn’t about going back – it’s about moving forward differently. A reset. A reawakening.
You don’t have to pretend you’re 30. You don’t have to hustle like you're 25. You do have to start building something that fits the woman you are now – wise, capable, and ready for her next chapter.
So if this is where you're at – overwhelmed, financially stretched, and wondering if there's another way – then take a breath. You're not failing. You're shifting. You're evolving.
And you don’t have to figure it all out alone.
✨ You’re not broken. You’re becoming.

The Cost-of-Living Crisis and What you can do to Thrive
04 April 2022
It’s all over the news and social media, there is a rapidly developing cost of living crisis. For many there already was and has been for some time.
Let’s just make it clear; 100% of women will go through perimenopause and on into menopause. 99% of women going through ‘The Change’ will experience some symptoms that can affect daily life to some degree.
Like most of us I didn’t always have a flexible work regime and found myself working hours for a fixed income that didn’t quite meet the lifestyle I wanted to lead.
In fact, it was not all that long ago that I had to totally reassess what I was doing and where I wanted to be.
