What effect do the menopausal hormones have on mental health and well-being?
At its most basic level the change in your hormonal profile and the brain's inability to process this level change in such a short time is what can lead to the emotional and psychological instability as you transition into menopause..
Let's add a little more depth so you can understand what is happening —during this phase the female nurture hormone profile is depleting. Up until now the brain has become accustomed to these hormones which aid in keeping you safe and you ready to nurture and support others. Afterall, that is why we are here, to produce and make more successful humans and when we can no-longer do this, at our most basic level we become, to put it bluntly, useless. Our brains not only find it difficult to process the loss of these nurture hormones but the effects their loss has on us both emotionally and psychologically. Hence why many women are diagnosed with stress, anxiety and depression associated conditions as we transition through our menopause journey. Not only do we not understand the effects but the medical profession has, for many years misunderstood the impact this change in hormonal profile can have on us.
For those subject matter experts among you, once the perimenopause phase begins and the hormones begin to deplete, you as a woman don’t have the same capabilities to prevent the overwhelm, the anxiety, the increased stress monitoring and alleviation as you once has, hence the mood swings, low self-esteem and feelings of uselessness experienced by many.

The Cost-of-Living Crisis and What you can do to Thrive
04 April 2022
It’s all over the news and social media, there is a rapidly developing cost of living crisis. For many there already was and has been for some time.
Let’s just make it clear; 100% of women will go through perimenopause and on into menopause. 99% of women going through ‘The Change’ will experience some symptoms that can affect daily life to some degree.
Like most of us I didn’t always have a flexible work regime and found myself working hours for a fixed income that didn’t quite meet the lifestyle I wanted to lead.
